Bowl of Oranges

And we'll keep working on the problem
We know we'll never solve
Our love's un-even remainders
Our lives are fractions of a whole
But if the world could remain within a frame
Like a painting on a wall
Then I think we'd see the beauty then
We'd stand staring in awe
At our still lives posed
Like a bowl of oranges
Like a story told
By the fault-lines in the soil

My So Called Life Nostalgia

I remember when I first saw My So Called Life I seriously related to Angela Chase in such an intense way along with millions of other girls. She seemed to encapsulate a reality that was rarely shown on screen or within the media. That women are complicated not just one dimensional and that becoming a woman entailed not only soul searching but a deep analysis of the self.

I still in a sense feel like a little girl sometimes but with all my life experience I also feel as if I were an 80 year old. It's quite a journey to understand you're own wants, needs and motivations. I do feel it's necessary to complete that inner journey if you want to create art that is universal and not just narcissistic. Or if you want to have a satisfactory life in general. I don't think I'm even close to the person I want to be yet, but I have come a long way. It's pretty interesting watching this show now.
Watch My So Called Life here.

Restless Trailer

This movie looks absolutely amazing.

Hung out with my friend Mav today at The Quiet Storm one of my favorite places to sit and sketch. It was so refreshing to talk to someone about the process of making and producing comics among other things. I think I may need to start a bit smaller and work on mini-comics and zines first to get a better idea of how to format a story visually. Check out his amazing series Cosmic Hellcats here.

Fiona Apple On Her Upcoming Album

Fiona Apple is working on music for her new album coming out in 2011. I can't even contain my excitement!! Here are a few details about the music. She has been one of my favorite artists since Tidal and recently I've been listening to her nonstop so I can't wait for the new record.

I feel like a 5yr old little kid soooo excited.

The Pittsburgh Indy Comics Expo 2010

I had so much fun at the Pittsburgh Indy Comics Expo yesterday. I got a chance to talk with a ton of amazing artists and get inspired for the series I'm currently developing. The expo runs today as well so if you're in Pittsburgh definitely check it out. More photos here!

Intimacy Collage

- -

I love the way the umbrellas come to life in this video so beautiful and true. I think we all are damaged in a way whether it's mental or physical when you risk you get bruised. I think about all the trauma I've been through and loss. But I'm still so open to love, hope, living and of course grief. (The giant umbrella bird makes me giggle though.)

Albino Animals Facebook Page

So I created a Facebook page for Albino Animals! I'm pretty excited to get things rolling with this company. I hate trends so I don't follow them and this company won't either :) It's all about self expression and learning how to create a new type of company in a recession. I'll be uploading a ton of clothes over the next few days in the Albino Animals Etsy shop for first time buyers their will be a 20% discount!

Letting Go

I feel like it's time for me to let go of the anger I've been feeling. I do think people do the best they can with what they are given. It's easy for me to be bitter if I allow myself to be judgmental. But who am I to judge anyone? I have my own hangups and have made selfish mistakes as well just like anyone else. Sometimes letting go of bitterness and anger is the best thing one can do for themselves. Funny how a chance conversation with an elderly man today completely changed my whole perspective on relationships in general. I truly love people so much.

Clues to the Envelope

So here are the clues to finding which book has an uncovered space envelope!
1. The female artist created an exhibition based on Emily Dickinson's poetry.
2. The book is in the stacks at the Main Carnegie Library between 1 and 6.
3. There is a forest on the cover and spine of the book.
4. The artist is listed in this email titled "Women Artists"

Roni Horn: Earth Grows Thick

Uncovered Space Envelope #1

So I'm putting this envelope in a book today at the Main Carnegie Library. I'm going to leave clues here of where it will be located but it won't be easy to find it will be a challenge. This is a very personal envelope but I hope the person who discovers it will enjoy the contents.
