A Yellow Circle by May Swenson

A green string
is fastened to the earth
at its apex a yellow circle
of silky superimposed spokes
The sun is its mother
Later the string is taller
The circle is white an aureole
of evanescence hairs
the wind makes breathe

Later still it is altered
the green string
is thicker the white
circle bald on one side
It is a half circle
the wind lifts away
